A compact touring kayak, designed expressly for the lighter/smaller paddler. Ideally suited for paddlers from 90-150 pounds, but still fun to paddle for the 180 pound paddler who likes a snug fit and snappy performance. The Solander Plus (formerly known as the Solander), a smaller version of the Seafarer, is a perennial favourite as it is nimble, sporty, and fun, and will also accommodate gear for longer trips. It has been in production since 1981 and has been revised and updated. We have sold more of this model than any other and it's still Steve's favourite, due to its unique combination of size, agility, weight, and character. Experienced paddlers find that the Solander Plus feels like an extension of their own body (the ultimate compliment!).

Kap Farvel

Introduced in October 1997, the Kap Farvel was designed in response to requests from experienced paddlers who wanted a rudderless kayak in the Greenland style, but reflecting Steve Schleicher's ideas on design, comfort and performance. It was conceived as a day paddling boat with the capacity to be used on day-weekend trips (light packers may stretch trip length a bit longer). The design is quite stable in spite of its narrow hull because the thin ends and rocker increase the draft and paddler's centre of gravity. It can be easily controlled with paddle strokes and boat lean. The cockpit is snug fitting and the deck fittings and hatched are recessed. Kap Farvel will reward skilled paddlers with its performance; other paddlers will also enjoy paddling it.

The Lootas is a very manoeuvrable, tight-fitting kayak that will accommodate paddlers from 120 to 200 lbs and still be able to carry two weeks' worth of supplies. The Lootas hull is soft chined with a very generous rocker. The soft chine allows very easy, predictable motion from gunwale to gunwale, which combined with the rocker, makes the boats direction easy to control with boat lean and paddle strokes. Flush hatches and deck fittings and recessed, flip-up rudder make for a very streamlined appearance. The Lootas will appeal to a select segment of active and reactive sea kayakers.

The Telkwa ("where waters meet") came about as a collaboration between a boat designer (Steve Schleicher) and a kayak shop owner (Don Lockwood). The result is a kayak which paddles well, looks pleasing and which has quickly become our most popular model. The Telkwa is a long, higher volume kayak, but it is surprisingly nimble and suits a wide variety of paddlers. Due to the popularity of the origional Telkwa, the line had been expanded. The Telkwa HV is for larger paddlers or those requiring even more storage capacity, while the Telkwa Sport is for smaller paddlers wanting a tighter fitting, slightly narrower kayak.

The Telkwa Sport is a slightly narrower kayak than the original Telkwa. Ideally suited for a smaller or medium sized paddlers, the Sport provides a bit of a tighter fit as a result of a deck lowered by 2.5 inches. It is equiped with all the same features as the standard version, including moderate rocker, allowing it to track well and be surprisingly nimble for it's size.
